Minor existential crises, etc.

They have these Russian electronic musculization machines. Not sure why I haven't heard about how they're doing these days. Seems like the perfect Russian answer to a perfect bunch of American problems.

Speaking of which, I want a shoe printer.

Does demand exist without product? The context/demand relationship forms a very sexy curve, like misted supermodel breasts rising up and down on perfect ribcages clothed only in tanned and lightly downy skin.

In a classically physical sense, twice the horsepower in a truck is worth more than twice the horsepower in a computer. Or... maybe it doesn't really work this way.

Efficiency! Allahu Akbar! KaBoom!

Speaking of which again, my friend Jody got married to her boyfriend Eric. I'm still a little infatuated, but I'll play it mellow:

Congratulations and best wishes Jod.

T'other Dylan

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Blogs That Flickr

Joined a web ring: Blogs That Flickr, which required that I put an incredibly silly looking chunk of stuff in my sidebar, but I may be able to edit it down to a minimal box which will offend my eyes less. Anyway, maybe this will turn out to be a good way to find cool new things to add to Bloglines. Right on. I may be a nerd. Please carry on.

Other Blogs That Flickr

Also, shouldn't it be "Blogs Which Belong To People Who Flickr?"

Master Plan

To do this week:

  • Take pictures - the weather's nice and Robby needs a photography fix.
  • Develop pictures - I want to get the pictures from my Hasselblad (500 series, I think) expedition and get them developed into 2' X 2' prints. These will become gifts or the first ecommerce experiment of this weblog... or possibly a show.
  • Finish chicken painting
  • Do some more drawings... my buddy Dan send me this and I realized I'm underutilizing my ability to do stuff half as good.
  • Lots of work to do at work.
  • Keep experiencing deep transcendant wonderful deliciousness to the hilt.
  • Post more potentially offensive images for my own entertainment.

Sad iPod :(

My iPod is sad. Needs to be fixed. After I owned it for about 2 weeks. Bleck. Maybe my music is too hardcore.

On Hiatus

Gosh. After posting a nasty little poem full of bile and sillyness yesterday (and subsequently deleting it), I've decided I need to take a few days off of blogging. Something seems to be wrong with Throb, so I'm going to send a crack crew of engineers down into its guts to see if they can figure out what's going on. It might have something to do with the fact that I was hoping to be in New Orleans with my friends and colleagues this week, or maybe I just miss Mojo at work. Anyway, I'll be back before you know it. I'm going to spend a few days focusing on painting.

The Roof! The Roof!

Went home this weekend to discover my apartment building locked up tight after a fire. The fire department put heavy locks on all the external doors with signs like "WARNING: Toxic Air." It looks like the fire was on the other side of the building from mine, so my stuff should be ok, but I really don't know the extent of the damage yet.

This could be a sign that the universe is conspiring against me, the latest in a string of recursive fractal waves of catch-22s. Or maybe it's just a small bit of bad luck. Anyway, I am strong, like the oak, and flexible, like the willow, and if I smell funny this week it's probably mostly just the smoke on my clothes like... a tree that's been... near something that burned.

Update: Sounds like I have to move out. I'm going to sneak upstairs when they let me in and see if I can get some photos.

Anybody know of any cool apartments in Belltown?

Mr. Glover, again

My buddy Elaine had the opportunity to actually hang out with Crispin Hellion Glover while at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend. Turns out he's really intense (surprise). To me, his new trailer comes off as kind of Cremaster meets South Park, but I'm insane and shouldn't be allowed an opinion. I wish I could have, however, played a bit part. Maybe topless and disabled and breakdancing and snail-saving. I'd like to go to a park with him. Or bowling.

Update: New link to Elaine's pics.

Tufte Sculpture

Neat. Edward Tufte, famous information designer - and man I'd just like to give a personal nod of respect to - is also a full on artist. Forgive my ignorance, but click this pic:
